Wrong-footed

Nature plays some strange tricks on you every now and again.

I came across this unfortunate gull while traveling on a ferry last Saturday to the isle of Texel. It must have broken its leg which was dangling behind him.

The way it was positioned made it look like it was on top of his back. Very weird, and I had to do a double take to see if I was seeing things clearly.

It may not be much of a hindrance (but note the wear on the tail feathers) and it certainly won’t be life threatening, but I couldn’t help feeling sorry for this individual.
