Black-headed Gull found dead in May turns out to be oldest in the world

The Weblog of Dutch organization Natuurmonumenten reports that a Black-headed Gull found dead on the Dutch coast in May turns out to be the oldest known Black-headed Gull in the world.

The short announcement states that the gull was ringed in 1979 in the United Kingdom, thereby making it 33 years old.

It breaks the record of the oldest known Black-headed Gull by 4 months, held by a Dutch ringed individual.
