It was a nice surprise to come across Lesser Black-backed Gull Larus fuscus graellsii Green Y.AMM in Leiden today.
My first and only observation of this bird was on 14 August 2010 (almost 3 years ago to the day), while it was still a juvenile in the breeding colony of IJmuiden where it was ringed. It is also only my third observation of a gull from that colony here in Leiden.
Y.AMM is not often seen in The Netherlands but Spanish followers of my blog may well recognize him because it winters at the landfills near Madrid.
P1 to P3 are fully grown, P4 almost fully grown, P5 has been dropped, P6 t0 P10 are old.
Primary moult score: 20 (5554100000).
