2CY Iceland Gull – 20150407

Second-calendar year Iceland Gulls Larus glaucoides are very common this winter in the Netherlands with many regular sightings along the coast and sometimes even inland (this in contrast to the previous winter in which they were scarce).

Today (7 April 2015) we briefly came across a beautiful individual in Leiden. A very nice sighting for the month of April and somewhat odd to see it between the local Lesser Black-backed Gulls:

This is only the second record of an Iceland Gull in the city of Leiden: it shortly follows the first sighting of 15 March 2015 (which incidentally was a different individual).
