1CY Lesser Black-backed Gulls (IJmuiden colony) – 20150802

The young Lesser Blacked-backed Gulls Larus fuscus graellsii (Dutch integrade) that we ringed this year in the gull colony of IJmuiden (Forteiland) are starting to appear on nearby beaches and in the harbour of IJmuiden.

Today I went looking for them and came across several. It is nice to see them growing up.

The anchor-pattern in some of the scapulars is typical for second-generation feathers, but I suspect that these may be (late growing?) first-generation feathers.
