This article is part of the Marked Birds Database manual and describes how to work with images.
Images can be added to the following:
- An unlimited number of images can be added to each observation
- One image can be added to each individual bird to show what that bird looks like (known as the ‘standard image’ for a bird)
Adding an image is done by adding it to an observation. Even when the image is used as the standard image for a bird, it needs to be added to an observation first.
Images taken during a ringing session are also part of an observation.
Images can be added one-by-one, or by uploading all images from a folder.
Add an image by accessing the Observation Details screen and clicking one of the buttons below the Images label on the right side of the screen.
The left button is for adding images one-by-one, the one to the right of it for uploading all images from a folder.
For adding images one-by-one, follow the instructions on screen.
For adding images from a folder, it is best to first create a separate folder in which you place only the images that you want to add to the observation.
After clicking the Folder Upload button, select the folder (you can also open it but this is not required) and click Select or Open. All files (!) from the folder will be added.
A standard image can be added to each bird to show what the bird looks like. The image is shown on the Bird Overview screen and in some search results.
To make an image the standard image for a bird, the image first needs to be added to an observation for that bird.
When viewing an image, click its yellow star icon to make it the standard bird image.
